What have a major high rise developer and a major supplier of construction material discovered about the Port of Toronto? The Port’s close proximity to Toronto’s downtown core provides them with a strategic location to store, stage and manage the just-in-time delivery requirements of large high rise developments. The Port of Toronto is five minutes from downtown Toronto, Canada’s financial, business and cultural centre. With 225,000 square feet of warehousing space and over 30 acres of paved marshalling area, the Port is ideal for long/short-term storage, warehousing and project staging.
The Port of Toronto has the space, infrastructure and expertise to effectively manage project-based warehousing and project staging. Situated on 50 acres (20 hectares) at the foot of Cherry Street, the Port is easily accessed via two major expressways and is served by rail by both of Canada’s railroads.
The site is ideal for the construction sector because of its proximity to downtown construction projects, and has been used as a staging location for major infrastructure developments including the Portlands Energy Centre, the Ripley Wind Energy Farm, and the TTC. Security features including perimeter fencing, manned security gate and around-the-clock security provide comfort to users that goods stored on the site will be always be controlled and monitored.
The site contains two large warehouses with a total of 225,000 square feet (21,000 square meters) of indoor storage space. Outside storage in the paved yard of the Port is also available. Both the indoor and outdoor storage areas are manned by a highly skilled and experienced workforce capable of managing complex material handling projects and oversized materials.
