The Harbour Hotline Program

Toronto’s waterfront is one its celebrated features. It’s no wonder Canadians and visitors from around the world soak in the sights and sounds at the edge of Lake Ontario.

For over 100 years the Toronto Port Authority has kept the Port and Harbour of Toronto debris- and spill-free. Each year approximately 450 metric tonnes of wood debris alone are collected from the mouth of the Don River.

The Toronto Port Authority (TPA) is mandated by the Canada Marine Act to keep the Port and Harbour of Toronto safe and navigable. This means that we clear silt and debris and make sure that Toronto’s waterfront stays clean.

Whether it’s dredging the Keating Channel or responding to a call from a concerned member of the public we are committed to fulfilling our mandate.

TPA Works & Environmental Services staff are fully equipped to deal with emergency oil spill response and work in conjunction with the Harbour Master’s Office, City of Toronto, Ontario Ministry of Environment, Spills Action Centre and port users on all environmental issues.
